hmmm, all this garbling(word?) about how bad the local music scene is pretty discouraging. There are bands worth listening to in Orlando, you just have to actually go to the shows. Maybe this fifty dollar bill will change your mind..

fifty dollar bill includes no money at all, but an invitation to:

Dodger (marching band)
swamee Swans
Yip- Yip
parade (bring your own instrument PLEASEE!!)
in cambridge circle.
on HALLOWEEN

we worked really hard setting it all up, so your participation is the completion of our mission of you.

For the people.

...and the product of the operation was a fine white shimmering poweder, [Jun. 24th, 2004|12:33 pm]
[mood |awake]
[music |Bjork- 5 years]

Ive been home for two days since my two week league of absense to Costa Rica and im so happy to be home. This trip was such a fulfillment because I feel like I accomplished everything that I wanted to. When I go on vacations, I "try" to make it a point to have a well rounded experience. I want to learn some, I want to hurt some, I want to see some and I want to feel some. Even though we stayed in one hotel the whole time (due to a lack of funds,) I still feel like I retained everything I needed to know about Costa Rica. But of course, it goes back to that ol' three dimensional universe theory bullshit, what you see is what you know. you know? isaac let me borrow the book hyperspace, it was good. oh boy, I have a lot of exploring to do! I think that means im goin back. Does that make sense? I apologize to anyone I forgot to say goodbye to, two weeks is a long time to go without talking to someone. Im sure Phil is going to post pictures up soon of all our naughty adventures. Oh believe me, we got our hands dirty!. --infomercial slogan maybe?

funwithdodgeball [May. 19th, 2004|04:12 pm]
[music |Tortoise- Its all around you.]

So after much thought and collaboration with my colleagues, ( Anna, Phil, Lee. Etc.) we have come to the conclusion that a dodgeball league might be the thing we need to change this town around. My friend Mark who lives in LA started a dodgeball league and they ended up making a movie out of it in Hollywood, starring Ben Stiller. All I want to do is to challenge his dodgeball team to a deadly dodge-off at the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. It makes for a great halfway mark (hehe) between Florida and California. I dont want a movie though...just a dual, and the satisfaction of dodging/hitting hollywood freaks. bwawawa!

Funky ass shit [Mar. 11th, 2004|10:25 pm]
[music |Basement Jaxx- jus one kiss]

The winter music conference in Miami was amazing. Me and Natalie had the privelage to witness one of the most aesthetically pleasing performances we have ever seen, thanks to the genius of the Soft Pink Truth. (One guy from Matmos.) His music is really intense homo-erotic dance music and it was synced up with an 80's gay porno. The great thing about it was he didn't show any of the nude scenes, just the parts where all the guys were dancing. We also got to see Jimmy Edgar and Otto Von Shirach who were also very awesome. So thanks to Schematic records for throwing an awesome party.

today was a pretty stressful day, I had to quickly come up with something about Galileo to present to my humanities class and write about two artistic experiences before 4:00. So I was definately pressed for time. But of course, I came out on top and ended up doing a great job on everything. Now im thinking about how empty my stomach is, how messy my room is, how unorganized my lifestyle is and how I barely got to talk to my girlfriend today and tell her about my day or my music or anything else important to me. But I am reformatting my computer so I can finally do my own music on it...yey.

Lastnight I wrote a dance song that I am pretty proud of. I spent half the day yesterday writing it and im sure im only half done. I definately want to make an obscure dance album like basement jaxx or something. Rather then obscure dance music, obscure pop music. I think I like that idea better. whatever...

Just a little observation about my day [Mar. 2nd, 2004|07:44 pm]
My day was awesome. Me and Maya got up around 1 or so and did some homework together before we both went to class. On my way to class, I made a detour to siemens westinghouse so my dad could spot me some dough so I can pump some juice in my wagon. In response to my request, he gave me $40 which greatly influenced my decision to buy some redbull. My true intention for buying redbull was to boost my concentration as advertised on the side of the can. As most of you know, im a rather large fan of redbull (or was). However, I tend to only drink redbull at night (usually before dodger shows.) So this was bit of an experiment for me. I drank the whole entire can before I went to humantities and to my surprise, it worked! Then I thought, I should buy some more before my economics class so I can focus on my test. So there, I fell into the arms of redbull's sleazy advertisement. I think what angers me the most is that the underlying marketing tool for this particular drink is addiction. Yea, sure it boosts your metabolism or whatever, but I am now also addicted to it. Its weird to me how widely excepted it is to be addicted to these products that are crowding the shelves in every grocery store. Yet, its so easy to single out pot and say its bad for you because you see its illegal. (yet, much more harmless and not even addictive.) However, as soon as you slap a label on a can and give it a shitty slogan, its sold to the mass as an energy drink that boosts your metabolism and your concentration. So next time anyone tries to casterate me for smoking pot, be sure you're not an avid T.V watcher, an energy drink drinker, a caffine addict, a heroin addict or a coke addict because they are all the same to me. Addiction is addiction.

funny foreign sounding men make bad teachers [Feb. 24th, 2004|07:58 pm]
Im in my economics class right now and ive just completely given up hope on trying to understand my teacher. He can barely speak english and he is never prepared for lecturing. He takes 15 minute breaks in between his main points in order to come up with new ones. Its absolutely ridiculous.I shouldn't be wasting my time here anymore..

The rest of my day wasn't that great. I almost burned down my house making popcorn, I bombed my humanities test (literally) and I left the windows in my car rolled down. Its more like a long chain of mistakes. None the less, it wasn't a great day. I need to get organized so my life runs more smoothly. The good news is that I got a job today as a driver at the california chicken grill.

[music |Boards of Canada- Music is Math]

I really need a job but I just suck at jobs in general. I got fired from my last job at the five and diner because I couldn't handle the workload. I had to work two overnight shifts a weekend and it usually screwed me over for the rest of the week. Now im just considering taking out student loans for now. I hate to be in debt but I rather pay the money back with job that I actually enjoy. This is also sets a lot of time aside for music. Oh, and I dont want to get punched in the face after getting fired and then hearing it from everyone afterwards. Its just not cool.

Things to do on a cooooold day.? [Dec. 17th, 2003|05:16 pm]
[music |Of Monteal- Who will protect our children.....]

Whats cooler than a blue Nasa windbreaker? definately not work from 11 Pm - 6am. But rather a cool striped shirt with variations of blue on it. However, both are blue and were purchased by me at Thriftko. Two cool blue things makes miguel a happy lad. Not to mention, the twirling combinations of green in grandma's new swimming pool. Also a recent additive to compliment my two cool new bluw things.

(outdated. merchandise purchased yesterday)

Goal additive : beat mario 3 in 10 minutes.

[music |lexaunculpt- a funeral for a pink]

goals ( in no particular order...or maybe?)

1. a complete album. I dont want to die with nothing to represent my passion. I know we have demos and stuff, but I want a complete album that represents all that we can possibly do. Lastnight, me and Matt stayed up late recording.

2. Help make Natalie's play

3. To be out of debt.

4. clean my house.

5. see Lord of the Rings.

6. Become more familiar with recording software.

7. Attempting to make my own solo music. Im thinking heavily electronic based. Lots of samples and stuff. Also very jazz based. Im pretty big into Make do say think and Isotope 217 now. Maybe its just a phase.

8. Maya (self explanatory)

[music |Of Montreal]

Lastnight was awwweesome. Dodger's set went over really well as well as Timbers Shivered and the Ocean floor. I thought all of us were great and im so happy we are all friends. I wish we could play shows like that alll the time.
After the show everyone came over my house and we just talked and listened to music. After much drunken discussion about life and religion, we hit the sac at about 6 AM. It was a long night worth talking about.

Wont you join us for number 33?

I am currently in love with Of Montreal's "who will protect our children." and the Moldy Peaches

The turkey is dry, as usual [Nov. 27th, 2003|03:31 pm]
I have always been really excited about Thanksgiving but for some particular reason im not to excited about this one. I guess im finally starting to realize that the only thing that makes a holiday a holiday is the hyped up aura that surrounds it. Why am I now just discovering this? However, I haven't really experienced that this season. So, I have come to the conclusion that im having dinner with my family on Nov 27th 2003.

I finally got a freakin job. I am now employed at the five and diner off of colonial and so far, ive been having a blast. They granted me the privilage of being a server with my new and not improved sidekick Pam McKenzie. My first night working outside of training didn't work out to good. I only got like 4 tables and made 20 bucks. Im working two overnights this weekend so please, everyone come see me and keep me awake.

Ive watched 2 documentaries that have affected me greatly in the last 2 days. One of which is Michael Moore's Bowling For Columbine. (I feel bad watching it when some of his footage is outdated) and Hell House, a documentary about insane Christians and their ability to instill fear into the lives of Americans. Ironically enough, both documentaries share the same exact theme.

hopefully soon I will have the internet.

[music |Bjork- ohhh so quiet]

Its not so bad not having the internet. I think I spend to much time on the net anyways so it might be the break I need.

Lastnight me and Matt went to my parents house to eat dinner and to pick up some expensive designer clothes to sell on ebay. Hopefully these clothes will help pay my bills. My aunt is super rich and goes on 10,000 dollar shopping sprees and then sends all the clothes down to my mom because she doesn't want them anymore. This is a monthly ritual so we'll have a steady flow of business from ebay.

We had a little bash at the lodge and it was pretty fun. We just listened to music and watched ourselves on the television making rainbows and sprinkling magic dust on each other's heads. I was supposed to help Phil's dad move cars back and forth from Sanford to Lake Mary but he forgot to wake us up, oh well.

its been a while.... [Nov. 15th, 2003|03:49 pm]

[music |Not Stained]

I haven't updated this in a while because I didn't pay the internet bill. Therefore, this journal entry is brought to you by Maya's computer. Im still on the hunt for a job but its getting really frustrating. I think I have finally come to terms with the fact that it's really hard to get a job in a college town. I was under the impression that I was pretty much hired at Barnies but when I went yesterday to check up on the hiring process, he turned into a butthole and told me, "We'll be good until the end of summer." What does that mean? Does he have a cult following of Barnie's employees that have vowed to stay with the company until the end of summer? So now I plan on applying at Whole Foods off of Aloma in winter park.

My birthday was pretty fun. I ate dinner at my family's house and hungout for a little bit, My dad got me a book called, "Hardcore Zen." Its about this guy that was heavily involved in the "punk rock" scene and became interested in Zen so he moved to Japan to become a Zen master. He wrote this book commenting on American society from a Zen perspective. Its really awesome. I also got a lot of money from my parents that went towards speeding tickets and other bullshit,

[music |Starlight Mints- submarine #3]

I dont think I could possibly captiivate how amazing our show was with the Startlight Mints. The whole experience was fun, inspiiring and stressful. Definately one of the best experiences Dodger has ever experienced. We played a really awesome set and we were very well received. It was so crazy because before the show, I was extremely stressed out because I didn't have a hi-hat stand and I forgot my combo cymbal stand at home. So I was driving around, sweating bullets hoping that I wouldn't be late to the show. Fortunately, I showed up right when it was our turn to sound check. The Starlight Mint's set was amazing. They had a video screen to compliment their music and it was excellent. I danced for most of their set. After the show, we went to their hotel room to have a bash. They kept telling us how we blew them away and they couldn't believe how old we were. I'm glad they emphasized our age because sometimes I forget that im a young musician and I sometimes compare myself to musicians that are 40 years old. But then again, if I dont compare myself to these muscians,I wont get where I want to be. Me and Matt talked to Alan (front man) for a long time about what he wanted to do with music and plans for his next album. It was a very inspiring conversation because not only did he inspire us, I feel that we inspired him as well. Phil got drunk and stoned so he accidently left with Matt's keys. So me and Matt made a fun little road trip out of it and drove to Lake Mary to get them. It was about 6 AM when we got there. Then we drove to Matt's car and then back to our place. I went to sleep at 8am. I left my cell phone on top of my car lastnight and drove away, so now I dont have a cell phone. damn....
